Pool Liner Maintenance Instructions
Controlling the water used to fill up the pool:
Drinking water coming from a public water supply system is particularly suitable for filling your pool as its high quality is constantly monitored.
If well water is used, care should be taken to ensure that it contains none of the heavy metals (iron, copper, manganese) frequently present in these sources. As they can cause discoloration of the swimming pool liner.
7,0 – 7,6
If the pH-value is < 7,0
- metal may corrode
- liner will gae faster
- wrinkles will form in the liner
If the pH-value is > 7,6
- the chlorine will break down faster
- the effectiveness of disinfectants will be reduced
- calcium will deposit on the liner
0,3 – 0,6 ppm (mg/l)
Too little free chlorine will result in:
- poor efficiency of disinfectants
- deterioration of water quality
- increased growth of biofilm on the liner which will eventually lead to discoloration
Too much chlorine content will result in:
- formation of wrinkles in the liner
- fading/bleaching of the liner’s colour
- accelerated aging of the liner
- max 28c (82f) for liners
- 32c (90f) for reinforced membranes
Temperature too high:
- the effectiveness of disinfectants will clearly be reduced
- the increased need for higher chlorine levels increases the risk of bleaching the liner
- there is increased danger of bubbles and wrinkles forming
Water treatment and disinfection equipment:
- Do NOT use copper or silver ionizers to disinfect the water. These systems are not suitable for use with pool liners
- Non-compliance can lead to discoloration of the liner.
Avoid contamination of the water and clean it up promptly:
- If possible, have a shower before ‘jumping in’ and also keep the pool edge clean by regularly using approved mild cleansing agents.
- Sunscreen, suntan creams and lotions or tanning oils may contain metals; they may contribute to discoloration along the waterline (i.e. yellow rims).
Only use cleansing agents specifically designed and approved for swimming pools!
- Regular household cleansing agents that have not been approved can damage the liner.
Please use only soft cloths, brushes and sponges for cleaning your pool!
- any equipment that can potentially scratch or mar the surface of the lining should be avoid (e.g. scouring powders, wire brushes, high-pressure cleaners etc.)
- inappropriate cleaning equipment can damage the surface of the liner
Swimming pool cover in summer:
Avoid accumulation of heat in air and water!
- if you cover your swimmingpool in summer during the day (or for longer periods of time, e.g. for several weeks whilst on vacation) you must ensure that there is adequate water circulation
- at high temperatures (over 30c/86f), the swimming pool water should be continuously circulated when covered.
Accumulation of heat in the air and water damages the swimming pool liner.
- insufficient circulation of swimming pool water causes extreme accumulation of warmth under the cover (air temp. can exceed 60c/140f, water temperature can exceed 40c/104f and permanently damage the liner.
- this will result in bulges and folds in the liner.
If you do wish to prepare you pool for winter:
- drain water level to just below the skimmer, winterize inlets on return lines by closing them tightly.
- empty all plumbing lines and also drain the filter.
If the above instructions are not observed there is the chance of:
- polluting the pool
- damaging the liner surface

Swimming pool liners should not come into contact with polystyrene, bitumen, tar, industrial oils and grease, solents, coating materials, paint, rubber boots, rubber insulated cables or the like.
- It is imperative to avoid the liners surface from any contact with these materials.
- this type of contact can lead to discoloration
